“Small Businesses are vital to the success of Berkeley Laboratory and its mission. In fact, our commitment to award contracts to Small Businesses is formalized in our Prime contract with the DOE, and our goal to obligate over 40 percent of our procurement dollars to small businesses is aggressive. We must work together as an institution—and as individual contributors—to take an active role in encouraging neighborhood and community-based small businesses to participate in Lab opportunities.”
— Rebecca Cornett, Chief Procurement Officer
In fiscal year 2016, Berkeley Lab’s procurement obligations to small businesses totaled $127 million, representing 47.5 percent of our total procurement obligations. As we look to the future, contracting opportunities for small businesses continues to be a key part of Berkeley Lab’s socioeconomic goal. Our fiscal year 2017 goal is a target of 40 percent of total Procurement obligations with small business suppliers.
