Edna AnnisSmall Businesses are vital to the success of Berkeley Laboratory and its mission. In fact, our commitment to award contracts to Small Businesses is formalized in our Prime contract with the DOE, and our goal to obligate over 42 percent of our procurement dollars to small businesses is aggressive. We must work together as an institution—and as individual contributors—to take an active role in encouraging neighborhood and community-based small businesses to participate in Lab opportunities.
-Edna Annis, Procurement & Property Manager

In fiscal year 2018, Berkeley Lab’s procurement obligations to small businesses totaled $150 million, representing 59.3 percent of our total procurement obligations. As we look to the future, contracting opportunities for small businesses continues to be a key part of Berkeley Lab’s socioeconomic goal. Our fiscal year 2019 goal is a target of 42 percent of total Procurement obligations with small business suppliers.
